WHAT is the Empowerment Series?
*The Empowerment Series is your recipe for success and your ticket to freedom in the studio and beyond! During the series, students will learn beginner through intermediate exercises (some, not all!) of the classical Pilates system, focusing on one apparatus (piece of equipment) at the time. You will get comfortable setting up your equipment while beginning to understand the purpose of each exercise and the order in which they are introduced. Eventually, we will put all the ingredients together creating a cohesive, integrative, unique to YOU Pilates workout recipe! You will have printable PDF curriculum for each week of the series and plenty of in studio resources to use, like posters, flashcards and dry-erase boards. I will spend time in and outside the studio working on your personal practice and meeting with you to discuss and review. You may take notes, ask questions and together we will find the best path for you to achieve the goal of each exercise in your own individual way.
WHO is the Empowerment Series good for?
*you are brand new to Pilates, new to classical Pilates, or new to the studio.

Armed with your elevated understanding of the work, you are SURE to get so much more value out of each and every session you take!!! Empowered clients may choose to continue taking group classes, private sessions or a combination of both (which honestly yields the best results). The other exciting option you have opened up for yourself through Empowerment is access to our “Open Gym” program, which is completely unique to CIP patrons. Think of it as, your personalized Pilates practice, without the private price tag! By committing to regular self-practice, you'll not only enhance your skills and speed your progression, you will save on costs - practice more, pay less. So when you do take that private session or attend your favorite group class, you'll maximize your progress thanks to your consistent, connected practice!
For most people, practicing at least 3x a week is essential for real results. In my opinion, the best combination is maintaining an autonomous practice 2-4x a week (at home or in the studio, even if it’s just 10 minutes on the mat), taking 1-2 weekly group classes, and taking private sessions periodically (quarterly is good, monthly is better, weekly is best!) for a “tune-up” and to continue making progress. Do I have to do Open Gym after the series?
Absolutely not. You have the choice to practice however you please. If you prefer private instruction or classes and don’t care to workout on your own, you don’t ever have to! The purpose is quite literally to empower you in your practice, no matter what stage you are in. That may mean that after the series you can confidently take group equipment classes without feeling totally lost or like you can't keep up because you are no longer having to work so hard to remember the choreography and can finally focus on the connections. It could mean taking a Joe's Gym-style class where everyone is working at their own level and pace. Maybe the result is that you have a solid home workout you can do on days you don't take lessons at the studio. Empowering your practice could also mean that you start progressing like wildfire in your privates because your understanding of the work is much deeper.
Is Open Gym a good choice for me?
Open Gym program may not be suitable for everyone. It's designed for those who are self-motivated and looking for results, rather than those who primarily seek social interaction or require constant instructor guidance. Individuals with major injuries or those needing significant assistance should explore other options. Enrollment in the Empowerment Series does not guarantee access to Open Gym hours; access is at the studio owner's discretion and depends on adherence to safety protocols and respect for the equipment. There are considerations regarding liability that will need to be addressed with an additional waiver during the signup process.
Do you have burning questions about what path to take on your Pilates journey? These are called "Personal Practice and Progression Privates" and they are padded with an additional time for us to conference, plan and move. SIDE NOTE: From the feedback collected after our beta launch, I have decided to make some changes in the program. In this next group, we will learn exercises one apparatus at a time before treating it as a systematic workout. Additionally, I will simplify the group curriculum and spend the extra time giving individuals specific exercises that they may be ready for or need in their own practice.
How exactly does Open Gym work?
This program provides the opportunity for folks to have dedicated practice time using the studio/equipment for less than the cost of a private or semi-private session! Once you have completed the Empowerment Series and shown that you are proficient in changing your equipment and staying SAFE, you may schedule your “OG” practice time. Open Gym hours will revolve around our group class schedule and will always take place in a shared studio environment. For example, while Amanda is teaching a duet session, there is plenty of space and vacant equipment available for others to workout. This creates a bustling, vibrant environment, just like Joe’s studio used to be, with focused clients working on every piece of apparatus in the space! There will be times when no lessons are being taught in the front studio but Amanda is there doing computer work, or Hope is teaching a Gyrotonic session in the back. Essentially, this is an equipment rental, so although you are not receiving our instruction during your “OG” workout, an instructor will always be present for safety/liability.
