Pilates offers you a body balancing system that strengthens, lengthens, realigns and defines your body. Pilates is an exercise-based system that aims to develop the body's "centre" in order to create a stable core for all types of movement. Eventually the body will move with maximum efficiency and minimum effort. Postural changes as well as increased flexibility are only a few of the benefits Pilates provides.

Group Equipment Classes
"GROUP EQUIPMENT": Up to 5 students, 1 instructor. You will work using any combination of equipment (reformer, mat, tower, wunda chair, barrel) and props (balls, rollers, Magic Circles, thera-bands) to facilitate a better understanding of Pilates core-strengthening techniques. Each student works at his or her own level while enjoying the structure of an intimate, small group setting. CIP offers "Traditional Group Systems" Classes as well as "Variations".
Pre-requisite: anyone attending group classes MUST complete 3-5 private sessions and have instructor permission.
Traditional Group Systems
This is a traditional Power Pilates class taught in a classical, systematic, integrative manner. Students will utilize a combination of equipment primarily consisting of the reformer, mat and tower.
* Classical: as close to Joseph Pilates teachings as possible.
* Systematic: a holistic approach to Pilates that follows a system of prescribed exercises incorporating a variety of apparatus.
* Integrative: we have taken Joe's original method of "Contrology" and updated it, progressively, through scientific advancements and present-day body awareness.
By taking advantage of this "System", clients will find a deep connection to their CORE while transforming their bodies and ridding themselves of chronic weaknesses.
Variations
These Group Equipment classes do not follow a traditional format... the variations in choreography are designed to keep your body & mind challenged, guessing, and to keep your Pilates workouts FUN and FRESH! You will work on any combination of equipment (the reformer, mat, tower, chairs, barrels, props).
Classes that fall into this category include: Jump Board Challenge, Climb the Tower, Mat + Tower, A Wundaful Workout (Chair), Exteme, Instructor's Choice, and Xtend™.
Xtend™
Get Your Best Body at 20, 30, 40 and Beyond!
(Up to 14 students, 1-2 instructors) Xtend™ is the most effective barre workout and the most efficient way to create a strong and healthy body at any age. The system focuses on sculpting the body proportionally so that it is equally challenged. The end result? A long and lean physique… without added bulk. Developed from a dance-background, you’ll enjoy the workout of a dancer and begin to feel and look like a dancer.
Using a series of isometric exercises and orthopedic stretches, clients can achieve firm and fast results.

Mat Classes
Classical Pilates Mat Classes: Up to 18 students, 1 instructor. Levels range from beginner to advanced. You will be placed in appropriate classes according to your level of experience and mastery of the Pilates exercises.
Prenatal/Postpartum Pilates
Unlike other types of exercise, you can start with Pilates at any stage of your pregnancy and still reap tremendous benefits. It is absolutely never too late to learn. For many pregnant women, this is a time that they feel the greatest need and motivation to get fit and take care of themselves. Our Prenatal program provides the body with deep overall conditioning as it elongates and aligns the body. It also, helps strengthen the body for a smoother delivery. From the first trimester to labor, our program will safely prepare the prenatal body for the rigors of labor. Through Pilates based exercises, we will tap into the power of our own breath and strength, which helps realign the body for successful birthing. A safe Pilates practice can help soften and open the body and mind so that we can help facilitate the natural birth process. We focus on keeping you strong in all the right places, while assisting nature's process of opening and relaxing the body in others. Essential exercises for pregnancy include pelvic floor exercises, abdominal work to activate the TA and obliques and to maintain lumbar pelvic stability, hamstring strengthening and stretching to help stabilize the pelvis, hip adduction/abduction and arm work to include external rotation and shoulder adduction. The majority of the exercises (in the Mat class) utilize a birthing ball like the FitBALL exercise ball. Many women use the ball as a labor and delivery tool. One way to be confident in using the ball during labor is to incorporate it into your daily life. The ball is a comfortable way to exercise, especially towards the end of pregnancy.
One note for postnatal clients- all mommies are welcome, but our NEW moms should probably plan to attend these classes only up to 10 weeks postpartum. Beyond that, you will likely be ready to move back into more challenging Pilates classes!
We are now offering our Pre/Postnatal class on the mat using the ball & props 2 days each week: Tuesday & Thursdays at 6:30pm in the PurEnergy fitness classroom (across the parking lot from CIP).
We are happy to offer private and semi-private equipment workouts by appointment only for our moms to be and new moms for an additional discount!
You may buy the 10 class Mat Card for $120 or use your CORE Card to pay for these classes and appointments.
