About Core Integrity Pilates, LLC

CIP is dedicated exclusively to the original Pilates method, to the systematic layering and order of the classical exercises, to comprehensive instructor education, and to staying up to date on the most current scientific advancements concerning safe and effective physical education. We offer a range of services and provide only the finest instruction with friendly attentive service in our new, beautiful studio. Our goal is to provide a refreshingly positive experience and to raise the standard of Pilates training offered in the Greensboro area.

Our guests enjoy an atmosphere of relaxation and cleanliness in our upscale Pilates studio, while being treated with respect by our professional staff. Our instructors provide expert knowledge to help clients focus on their needs and meet their goals. Ideally, all students should train one on one with a classically certified instructor BEFORE entering any mat class! Our method of private instruction empowers the client, giving them a holistic perspective on Pilates. Students learn the proper technique for each exercise, including body alignment, breathing, and intension. Core Integrity clients will gain the ability to walk into any mat class (where they may not always receive appropriate feedback, safety tips and correctional cues) with the tools necessary to protect their bodies and to move them in the most efficient manner.

Pilates-for some it’s a way of life, for me it was a new beginning.

In December of 2005 I had reached my lowest low. Carefully examining myself through scrutinizing eyes I was physically what I considered a hopeless cause. At 43 years of age I had somehow turned into an old woman that was lethargic, overweight, a victim of neglect and lacking self confidence; the epitome of the frumpy housewife. Family history foretold the story of upcoming high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, strokes and heart attacks. How could this have happened? Just yesterday I was a spunky 20 year old that ran circles around everybody that I knew. The day of my revelation I could barely get off of my sofa. The future was bleak and only I could control the path that I would take.

Fast forward six months later…I’m having my physical at Duke University and I hear the words everyone longs to hear- “Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it!” A weight loss of 44 lbs., a 9% loss of body fat, total cholesterol down to 158, blood pressure down to 123/73, all test results are at optimal or near optimal levels. You can imagine the music to my ears as I think of my five older sisters that are on daily medications for a variety of illnesses. I had made the decision to change my destiny and was well on my way.

So the big question you’re probably asking yourself is how did I do it? Well, the answer is the old fashioned way…I’ve worked my butt off (figuratively and literally). Of course I cut back on my eating, started walking and doing the “ordinary” exercise, but this time I knew that I had to incorporate something new into the regimen. I came across an advertisement for a pilates class. I had heard of Pilates but really had no concept other than dancers do it to have great looking legs. I wanted great looking legs! So I gathered up the courage and made the first step. IT WAS THE GREATEST DECISION THAT I’VE MADE IN YEARS! Firmly I believe that as a result of taking Pilates under the instruction of Amanda that I am now strong and getting stronger, I am confident and full of self-assurance, I am energized and getting even more so, and most importantly, I am healthy and God willing, will continue to be. Amanda guides all of her students at the level that they are currently at and helps all of us to reach our potential with every session. Even though I doubted my abilities as I walked into her classroom, she whole-heartedly encouraged me to strive to be the best that I could be at that very moment. Can I do every move with perfection today? Not hardly, but I do know that when I leave the studio that I have performed the best that I could that day. Amanda has helped me to see that I don’t have to compare myself to others or their abilities but look inside of myself to what I want to achieve. For the first time in many years I like what I see and how I feel. Amanda’s concern and compassion for her students and the vast knowledge she has in the field of Pilates makes her an ideal instructor. Everyone should be so lucky as to have an “Amanda” experience.
